Why I Love Paid Ads (And You Should, Too!)

Gone are the days of posting content on your Facebook business page and 100% of your followers see the post. This is not news to anyone, right?!

If so, head over to this in-depth experiment and explanation on “What Percentage of Facebook Fans REALLY Saw Your Post?” by Jon Loomer to learn more about how Facebook algorithms work.

For me, 6 years of working with advertisers and publishers in Affiliate Marketing taught me a lot about how you can spend a ton of money on advertising and if you are not careful, end up with nothing. However, it wasn't until I started my own handmade business that I learned how important it is to get your product/service/content in front of your target customer, online.

If you want any chance of becoming successful in the digital marketing world you have to spend a little (or a lot) on paid ads to hit your target market and start driving people towards your business. In this post, I focus on Facebook paid ads because it is my favorite platform.

So, let's get right to it!

Here is Why I Love Paid Ads (And You Should, Too!):

1.      As of the first quarter of 2016, Facebook had 1.65 billion monthly active users (http://www.statista.com/). That’s BILLION with a B. So, if you can’t find your target audience somewhere on Facebook, you might consider another business opportunity that appeals to a larger demographic. Moral of the story, the likelihood of not reaching your target audience via Facebook Ads Manager is very slim.

2.      Facebook Ads Manager is robust. It’s not just about getting business page likes anymore and a lot of small business owners don’t realize that! To clarify, in addition to paying for page likes, you can: send traffic to your website, generate leads for your sales funnel, reach people near your business geographically, generate app installs and even reach your audience on Instagram.

3.       Target, Target, Target! The segmenting ability in Facebook Ads Manager is amazing and when used correctly, provides a very affordable way to continue to reach your customers long after you initially posted to your page. The real bread and butter in my opinion, is the advanced targeting Facebook Ads Manager can do for your small business.

For example, if you determine your target audience to be: women, 31-39 with school-aged children, who own single family homes, are college educated, bilingual, with liberal political views and an upcoming birthday. You will have no problem nailing down those users on Facebook. Additionally, you will see an estimate of how broad that specific segment is. That way, the money you do spend on paid ads will be targeted to people you know (because you’ve done your market research) who will be interested in your product, service or content.

4.      Facebook ads are affordable! Often the biggest hurdle in marketing, is cost. So believe me when I say, you do not have to make a huge financial commitment to advertise on Facebook and get results! There is nothing wrong with a $3.00/day paid ad budget for Facebook ads. Slow and steady promotion is often the best strategy when starting out and creates an effective way to continue to drive traffic to your business on and offline.

Lastly, it is never too late to start marketing your product, service or content using targeted paid ads via Facebook. If you don't feel comfortable or simply don't have the time to learn how to advertise. Hire an expert like me to manage this for you! You will not regret the investment when you see a steady increase in traffic to your business.
