If you have ever found yourself wondering what the differences between content marketing and inbound marketing are, you’re in luck! That is exactly what I’m going to tell you in this blog. Keep reading for all the details on each type of marketing and what makes them different!
Inbound Marketing is all the ways you turn a stranger into a promoter. You use techniques and services like social media marketing, content marketing, and search engine optimization to do this. The process of inbound marketing is a way to attract, convert, close, and delight the people who are interested in the products/ services you offer. In order to do all this, you use blogs, social media posts, landing pages, calls to action, CRM systems, emails, surveys, and social monitoring. If you feel like you need a more in-depth explanation of this process, click here to read my blog post dedicated to inbound marketing. What I love about inbound marketing is that it gets your product/service in front of those people who are actively looking for it.
Content Marketing, put simply, is a piece of inbound marketing. It’s the blog posts, infographics, videos and any other content you have created to drive traffic to your website. Social Media Today says, “Content alone can generate traffic, but it can't capture leads, or move leads down your sales funnel qualifying them, and eventually turn them into paying customers.” In order for inbound marketing to work, you MUST use content marketing. The content is what draws people in and after that, techniques like landing pages and calls to action are what leads them through the sales funnel.
I hope this was able to answer any questions you may have had about the differences between inbound marketing and content marketing. Both are important to utilize and will ultimately help bring in traffic which will convert to customers!
